Damian Catera: The End of History V. 3

The End of History V. 3 is from a series of works by sound artist Damian Catera which examines the history of music with a postmodernist approach. In the tradition of avant-garde methodologies from the 1970s, the artist literally takes apart Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in G Minor, Opus 12, (1728) and reconfigures it in a new way. By using randomization algorithms that the artist writes himself, a much loved and well-known work of music is re-considered as a new soundscape. Damian Catera is a 1x1 MediaWorks artist (Fall 2008) at Jersey City Museum where the full length version of The End of History V. 3 can be listened to through headphones installed in the museum's upper atrium gallery.
